We’ve been getting a notable uptick in people using the website form contacting the Chatellaine, as well.

Guilds:
Carolingia Calivers
Lord Eon BrocWe a put in a request for some linen to equip our newest members with their cassocks. $300 each for blue and yellow linen.

Ysabel: If you take the royal blue linen from Fabricstore.com, and wash it with the yellow, the yellow will become green. So pre-wash the blue thoroughly.

E: Any questions about the request?
Frithuric: How many does that make?
E: Enough for 5-6 new members.

J: It looks like $20/yard?

E: Yes. If we can get a coupon or discount, that might cut it, but I didn’t want to count on it.

F: We haven’t had the Calivers in court. I’m not sure how we’ve done this in the past. Is that well spent on Calivers or should it be spent on Fencing gear?

Donato: Have the Calivers spent their budget in the last 6 years?

E: Nope.

Justin: I’m not sure what the precedent is on this. I would recommend talking to the Seneschal and Exchequer before we vote on this request.

Ysabel: I can suggest a comparison with Waytes Livery. The Waytes have done this by accumulating their allowance and I contributed fabric as well.

Valerian: The barony did pay for the Pike Company tabards.

F: Are the existing cassocks the property of the company, or do they belong to the members?

E: Currently we have 12-15 people. 3-5 are from former members. They do get passed down, but we are out of passable down ones.

F: Is that because people have left with them, or otherwise?

E: Only 3-5 prior members actually had cassocks.

Justin: I think you should consult with the Seneschal and Exchequer before the council votes.

Frithuric (response to fish): How visible are the Calivers outside of Pennsic Field battles.

E: There were 4 or 5 at Pennsic, but several of them did not have cassocks.

F: If it’s for display, I’d like to see more.
Secretary’s note: The following discussion happened via text, and was interleaved with the above.
Valerian of Somerset: That’s not a cumulative amount. It’s $50/year for incidental expenses.

Justin du Coeur: The total ask is $960 — $600 for now, plus $360 for a few spare.

Ysabel da Costa: But if it hasn’t been spent, does it accrue?

Arlyana van Wyck: I do not believe it accrues

Valerian of Somerset: No. That would end up with potential requests for $1000 out of the blue that’s not budgeted.

Billy Fish: Seems like a reasonable spend to help rebuild our outward visablitly

Arlyana van Wyck: they can also fundraise

Low Company Master Justin du Coeur

Meeting this Friday, dinner at 6:30, RSVP to Symon and Deirdre. Teaching at 7:30. Toffel games this month.

Waytes Lord Zohane Faber

Needleworkers Lord Donato Favro

Needleworkers meeting next week (May 13) at Fighter Practice.

Foresters: Darereca

Last gathering in April, including 2 new people. We identified lots of plants and had a small fire starting lesson.

There will be a backyard pilgrimage at Ella and David’s this month.

Thorfinn: I did email the foresters guild to ask if you wanted a specific space at Otters.

D: We do.

Can we have a firepit?

T: We’ll check.

J: The meetings aren’t on the calendar.

D: I need to get approval from the hosts to publish address.

Elspeth: You don’t need an address to publish an event, you can put a point of contact instead.

Events:

Otters Welcome: Lord Thorfinn Theescore

We’ve been doing things surely and gradually. We have fliers, I will send out a general e-mail to the Barony with the fliers.

If you’ve not talked with me about your demo setup, please get in touch. (Donato, you’re good).

We still need hands for Gate, setup, breakdown, parking. Newcomer help, youth activities.

J: Do we have a reader for gate?

Cathain: There is only one for the kingdom.

Arylana: We need someone warranted to handle cash, though it is donation only.

D: When is gate running?

J: Start of the event through the early afternoon.

Arylana: If gate is closed, we still need someone to make sure waivers are signed.

T: I’d love some videos of what we do as Carolingins.

Donato: Could we get some printed flyers to myself or Fritz by Saturday for the steampunk festival?

Justin: For otters, even if you don’t have demos, bring stuff to setup and show off.

We do have the reg link up on the website, so you can pre-reg and donate.

And if we don’t fill the open positions, I will be volunteering people for it, so speak up now.

Falling Leaves: Meg Reardon

I now have a merchant coordinator. I have an idea about site tokens. I still have my team from last year.

Because this isn’t an RP there isn’t a dayboard. A couple of years ago, someone gave us a chunk of money for a table full of treats for their Birthday. I’m trying to figure out how to do that without having to have food licenses?
Frithuric: Do you have to have licenses for potlucks?

M: I’m not sure.

Justin: That tends to be fine, but we need to check local town rules.

F: It should be easy to check with the site or the town.

J: I would recommend looking at that option.

Cathain: We’re sharing part of the cost with a practice that is happening Sunday the 17th. Quintavia practice will offset part of the insurance if they make money.

There is also funding for equestrian insurance.

Arlyanna: Talk to me about that.

SCA Announcements:

Carolingia is going to a Celtic art exhibit Sun Jun 7th, Harvard art museum.

General announcements:

Justin: Intercon is in the rampup phase, we are taking proposals for larps. If you would like to run one, I’ll point you at the process.
Thorfinn: Is intercon a possible location for demos?

Justin: It’s a possility. It wouldn’t be a fighting demo, but we’ve discussed it in the past.

Next council June 1.
