Great Council Minutes Oct AS LX (2025) 7:30 PM

Coronets Nobildonna Fiore Leonetta Bardi and Lord Frithuric Ulman:

Falling leaves was great. We talked about that last meeting. We have neighboring coronation and multiple other large events in kingdom this weekend.
In the near future we are hosting Crown, a lot of stuff is happening around, there has been a massive influx of armored combatants at practices.

Officers:Seneschal Lady Sugawara no Naeme

Welcome, the agenda is posted in the chat.

I still need a deputy for a step up position.
Our chancellor minor would like to step down, please reach out.
The clerk of the stables has stepped down, please reach out to me if you are interested.
The financial committee meeting met on Oct 2. We talked about walkie talkies, we had a small issue with the purchase of popups happening without prior approval. We did approve it.

We finalized the dance event with an increase in the feast fee.

There has been an archery reimbursement for goods purchased for falling lives, $45 in excess of planning.

A proposal for new list components was approved.

Our upcoming annual budget is being prepared. We would like to encourage discussion on capital improvements. New thrones, a kneeling bench, new loaner gear, a demo-in-a-box.

Magdalena: Someone was pointing out that we don’t have any cut and thrust loaner gear so I need to understand the process for getting approval.
S: Send an e-mail to the financial committee.

The final issue on the financial committee meeting was classifying how capital purchases within event budgeting should be handled.
Valerian: On the list project, does anyone want the old list posts?
Eowynn: Should they be offered to our neighbors?
Valerian: They aren’t really in good enough shape for that purpose, this is more about is there someone who is in a position to repurpose them. The new design will also be standardized among the local groups, so no single Barony is responsible for something like Crown Tourney.
S: Additionally, there is a pennon project being headed by her excellency.
Fiore: Yes, we are putting together pennons to go on the ropes in our baronial colors. I have some fabric to donate, more will need to be purchased. If you can help, please contact me.

Seneschal of the Canton of the Towers: Lord Eirikr Lambson

No Report

Secretary Lord Donato Favro

Minutes may be delayed until early next week due to personal commitments.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Meisterin Cathain Ritter

Not much to report outside of the financial committee meeting minutes, more in the falling leaves final report. The bank accounts are looking good. Please contact me if you have any open reimbursements.

Chancellor Minor Master Cristoff Gockerhan von Loch

Sugawara: The chancellor minor would like to step down, so a new candidate is needed. You need to like children, and a background check is required. Please reach out to myself, the current chancellor, or their excellencies.

Chatelaine Thorfinn of Thescorre

The team has increased to 4. Valbjorn Lochlainn has stepped up as an additional deputy.

Val: Happy to be here.
T: We’ve been trying to kick it into high gear, get more marketing materials, a kit for demos, etc. Some of this is just listing out the sort of things the barony does, so if you have something to contribute, photos or text, please contact the Chatelaine through their e-mail.
There is a potential demo on November 8th at the Bow Market Rennfaire. We would like to have a table and combat demos.
Justin: I am also talking about doing some dancing for the Bow Market. Timing on all of this is still TBD.
We are also talking about having a fan table at Arisia. If you might be interested in helping staff the table and attend Arisia, please talk to us. I am also bringing this up with Intercon.

Golden Gryphon Pursuivant Lady Orsina Della Luna:

No Report

Gold Key Lord Orlando dei Medici

S: Gold key was used at falling leaves.
Knight Marshal Lord Albrecht Ostergaard

Sir William Trout (Billy Fish): Nothing to report in terms of events or injuries. There’s been a large influx of new people in Salem. We’ve been getting visitors from Portland, New York, and other local groups are planning visits. Also, a new floor for Framingham would be useful.
Sugawara:
I have some theatrical flooring that might be suitable if someone can come pick it up.

Minister of Arts & Sciences Mistress Isabel del Okes

Two A&S focussed events coming up: Artifacts of a life, and St. Eligius. And St. Eligius will be a royal progress.

Web Minister Lady Elspeth of Ruthven

The ministry and the chatelaine continue working on the website. Please send us useful photos, along with use authorization.
Eowynn: A link to the photo permissions forms would be useful, they are hard to find.
Ysabel (from chat): Links for waivers, photo release, and model release are on the last page of each issue of the Minuscule

Chronicler Lady Ysabel da Costa:

The next issue of the miniscule will be out in December. Please keep me posted if there are any errors in the miniscule.

Dance Master Justin du Couer.

We just had dance last week. It went well, we had several new people. Come on by, everything is taught. The schedule is somewhat irregular due to site and personal issues, but the next practice will be the 29th.

Historian Mistress Eowyn Eilownwy of Alewife Brook

There is history.

Marshal of Fence Dona Magdalena von Kirschberg

We had over 50 fencers at falling leaves. Practices continue on Wednesdays in Framingham, Thursdays in Cambridge. Remy has had some interest in running some cut and thrust nights, we don’t have anything official right now, but there’s been interest in setting aside specific nights. This would be helped by loaner gear.

Billy Fish (from chat):Would love to get fencing in the Salem space, if we have any marshals localish as well
M: We’re pretty well loaded at the moment unless new marshals step up.

Marshal Archery Master Peter the Red
Eadgyth (from chat): Just a note that Archery practice is happening while Peter and Arlyana are away, Florian is running it Sundays as usual.

Marshal Thrown Weapons Lord Pandaulf of Fenmere

Thrown practice continues in Framingham Sat 10-1. No experience is necessary, loaner kit is available, garb is not required, children 5+ with parents. Watch for announcements with regards to the weather, and the season ending as it gets cold. No practice on the 8th due to coronation.

Justin: The promotion of activities overlaps a lot with the Chatelainate, please coordinate with them.
E: Yes, Thorfinn we can touch base offline.

Deirdre: I had trouble finding the meeting link today, and it wasn’t on the discord. It would be useful to have there.

E: That’s on us, we will have it in place by next month.

Justin: There is a calendar in discord, but it isn’t showing everything.
Thorfinn: This should be easier with the newer google calendar on the website.

Guilds:
Carolingia Calivers
Lord Eon BrocNo Report

Low Company Master Justin du Coeur

Storytellers Lord Gavin Kent

Waytes Lord Zohane Faber

Needleworkers Lord Donato Favro
Meeting this Wednesday. Materials for her highnesse’s favor will be available.

Events:

Falling Leaves: Maegwynn: We brought in $14919. Carolingia’s share after expenses and royal was $4000+. Unless there are complaints I haven’t heard, I’m going to call it a success.
We’d planned on 400 people max, and the tokens ran out early in the day. Just shy of 600 attendees.

Valerian: I did update the feast to 600 based on the pre-reg, which was helpful. It’s good to approximate double the pre-reg in attendance.

Crown Tourney: Aaradyn: Planning proceeds, we are coordinating with Kingdom. Our parking coordinator is going to need a little help. Likewise the youth coordinator and gate. Please reach out if you are interested in volunteering, we’re not in a bad space, but more hands always help.
Valerian: There may be a call for some supplies. Camping rugs for accessible seating, maybe some popups for changing rooms, more detail upcoming.
A: Please pre-reg, it makes things go faster.

Dinner and Dancing with the Duchess: Deirdre Greenwoode: I have someone who is potentially interested in heading the kitchen, but would like deputies. The kitchen head will be teaching about running a feast, with a deputy for each course as an educational opportunity.

(224986@members.eastkingdom.org)

Eowynn: This is almost the first I’ve heard of this event, when is it happening.
D: It’s March 7th. You will hear much more about this after I’m done with dayboard for coronation. It’s at the church where dance practice has, an afternoon and evening event. 1-9 with a course-dance-course-dance… format. Thera is the nominal “Duchess”, so might be running dance, join her at her “country house” for a party.

Donato: This event was discussed in previous councils, but did not have a name at the time.
Frithuric: Is it possible to fit a short court in the event without disrupting the theme, as there are outstanding awards?
D: Possible.

Eadgyth: Please remind Deirdre in a few weeks once her brain frees up.

?: We are still looking for someone willing to do Otters, and even Falling Leaves.
Thorfinn: Valerian and I will have a proposal for Otters next council or the one after.

General announcements:

Justin: Arisia happening, MLK weekend. Hotel rooms should open up shortly (within the next week). And Intercon in March if you’re into Larp. Feel free to ask me about either.

The next meeting will be on November 3rd. See everyone then, and we will have just had Crown Tourney, with the report expected the following month.
