Baronial Meeting Minutes – March 6, 2017

Please contact the Secretary at secretary@carolingia.eastkingdom.org with any questions or corrections.

 1.  Officer Announcements

  • Seneschal: Aurelia Rufinia

Looking ahead on the calendar, the July council meeting will be moved to July 10th due to the holiday.

  • Order of the Daystar: Erica Schlain

If you are a member of the Order and are not on the e-mail list, please contact Erica to be added.

  • Steward/Baronial Items: Eowyn Eilonwy

Baronial items that had been in Master Luke’s locker in Ashland have been relocated to the Baronial storage locker.  There are still a few boxes left that I will coordinate pickup for, and the items all need to be inventoried later on.  Thank you to Gudrun and Baron Colin for their help in this!

  • Exchequer: Orlando di Medici

I am still looking for a Deputy Exchequer.  If interested, please contact Orlando.

  • Gold Key: Aaradyn Ghyoot (standing in)

Gold Key has been successfully transferred to Christof Von Loch and now resides in Waltham.  The Chatelaine will still be the point of contact along with Gold Key for those needing assistance or with donations.

  • Webminister: Symon of Barnesdale

Please contact me if information on the website for your group is out of date.  For those interested, I will be holding a workshop after next council (April 3rd) on how to log onto the Baronial site and update information.

  • Secretary: Erica Schlain

My term as Secretary is set to expire at the end of this year.  While I enjoy this job and would love to continue at the pleasure of the Barony and its populace, I want to offer the position to any that are interested.  This is a great job to learn more about the Barony and its workings.  If you are interested or would like more information, please contact me.

2.  Guild Announcements

  • Calligraphers: Aaradyn Ghyoot

The next meeting will be on Sunday, March 19th at Aaradyn’s house in Revere.

  • Dance: Gundormr Dengin (standing in)

Practices have resumed starting on Thursday, March 2nd at the Presentation School.  Practices will be every Thursday from March through the first week of May, except for March 16th.  Quintavia’s next practice will be Tuesday, March 7th.

  • Jongleurs (Quire & Waytes): Orlando di Medici

The Waytes performed at the Black Rose ball.  Future practices of the Quire and Waytes may be moving to a new location.

  • Low Company: Justin du Coeur

We are looking at resuming meetings for the Low Company at Chad & Amanda’s house.  For more information, please contact Justin.

  • Philosophers: Eowyn Eilonwy

The second salon discussing future amendments to the by-laws about how to choose the next Coronets was held in Carlisle and was well attended.  Many ideas were discussed but no conclusions were made.  Due to the low turnout of the first salon (which I apologize for the late notice for), I would like to have a third salon, possibly during or after the local fight practice in Framingham.  Kazimerz has also volunteered to assist me in setting up an online discussion platform through Facebook.  Please watch the lists for more information.

  • Thrown Weapons: Symon of Barnesdale

The thrown weapons ranges typically reopen in April.  Please watch the list for notifications about cleaning up the range for the season opening.

3.  Events/Proposals

  • Laurel’s Prize Tourney: Dreda

This event will be on March 25, 2017 in Medfield.  This will be a cozy space, and we still need volunteers, especially for setup and cleanup after.  Due to overwhelming response, all challenges are now closed.  Please pre-register!

  • Coronation: Thomas of Effingham

This event will be on April 1, 2017 at the Masonic Hall in New Haven, CT.  We are still looking for volunteers, and encourage pre-registration for the event.  We will have an express check-in for all pre-registered and feast is currently about halfway sold out.  There will be structured dance and music sessions during the day and all are encouraged to participate.

  • Company of Bowmen Shoot: Erica Schlain

This event is scheduled for May 20, 2017 at the 4H Fairgrounds in Westford, MA.  Proposed budget for this event is $1,200, which includes site, equipment, and dayboard.  We anticipate that for an archery and thrown weapons event like this to have approximately 100 attendees.  There were questions during the budget request about whether tabard materials for Company inductees should come from the event budget or Company allocations.  Aside from that, budget was approved.

  • Battle of the Five Armies: Andreiko Eferier

This event will be a camping event on August 25-27, 2017 at the Camp Resolute Boy Scout Camp in Bolton, MA.  Pre-registration is underway for the event.  We are still seeking volunteers, particularly 2 meal chefs.  Please contact me if you are interested in volunteering.

  • Falling Leaves in Exile: Thomas of Effingham

This event is scheduled for September 16, 2017.  This will no longer be a camping event for this year due to scheduling conflicts.

4.  Announcements

  • Gundormr Dengin: At the Black Rose Ball, there were many awards given. Among them, Andreiko Eferier was inducted into the Order of the Silver Crescent, and Guinemer d’Anglade was inducted into the Order of the Maunche!
