Other Seneschal Business:
It has come up in discussion that walkie talkies at falling leaves would help coordinate the event. I would like to suggest that the barony purchase a set for events. $150 for a set of 6.
Ysabel: A rechargeable unit may lose battery with intermittent use.
Justin: Non-rechargeable batteries can be an issue.
Ysabel: You need to remove the batteries for storage.
Justin: Would it be charged while in storage?
Sugawara: Uncertain.
Eeowynn: No electrical outlet is available in storage.
Donato: Do we need walkie talkies? Other options exist.
Frithuric: Is it worth putting together an offline committee to look into options.
Meg: 95% of the time, the event steward is going to storage anyway.
Maybe we just do it. Since it’s such a little amount.
Albericht: Meg’s second point covers it.
Vote: Approved.
Sug: Eleanor will make the purchase.
It is time to get a new Chatelaine. Thorfinn has agreed to step up as chatelaine, and I am soliciting comments on the subject.
Justin: Thorfinn has been my deputy since the begininning of the year, and has been doing at least half the work. I have full confidence in him.
Thorfinn: I’m relatively new to the barony, but I’ve been enjoying working as deputy. I’m wide open to more suggestions on how to bring people in.
Elspeth: Thorfinn has been working with me on redoing the website, and he’s been great to work with.
Eowyn: We’re all grateful to Justin for his service. I just wanted to know if he will stay on to assist as needed.
Justin: Yes, that’s all been arranged.
Sug: Hearing no objections, Thorfinn will be Chatelaine as of Aug 1.

Historian Mistress Eowyn Eilownwy of Alewife Brook
When we amended the policy a year or two ago it included a general report requirement for event stewards to go to the historian (and seneschal) for future events. I would like to remind event stewards to do this.
Sug: I am noting to make a google form for event stewards to use in the future.
Thorfinn: Do we have previous records from event stewards.
Eowyn: This was done, but it wasn’t a policy, and it stopped being done some years ago.

Events:
Falling Leaves: Megwyn: The paypal link for pre-reg is live, and should be up until Aug 31st. Everything else is proceeding smoothly. We have someone for every activity except fencing.
A couple of different tournament ideas for heavy are being planned. Equestrian champions is proceeding.
Ysabel: If Dance is running a thing at the event, the Waytes are interested in talking with you.
Justin: I am willing to run dance if there is interest.
Meg: I am in favor.
Proposals: Deirdre Greenwood: I’ve been kicking around an idea for a while, and now it’s going to happen. A small late winter/early spring dinner and dancing event. It would include a dance track and a cooking track. It would take the form of alternate dances and meal courses.
I have a formal royal to serve as a figurehead, and I’ve talked to Aardyn about using the current dance practice space, as it’s suitable. I’m still working on the preliminaries, but it’s looking good.
Elspeth: Would the dance track and the cooking track be mutually exclusive?
Deirdre: The idea is that the two would run concurrently. People who cooked would still be able to dance, but would mostly miss the dance classes, and vice versa.
Ysabel: Musicians?
Deirdre: Once I have things pinned down a bit more.
Justin: I would like to do both.
Deirdre: I am still working on a feast head.
Sugawara: Timeframe?
Deirdre: Feb-Mar 2026
SCA announcements:
Mirriam: I am hoping to present a “project” or “to do list” tracker at the next meeting. It would list ongoing baronial projects that need hands, more than one or two volunteers. If you have anything along those lines, please forward it to me. I will put a call for information on Discord, Facebook, and the e-mail list.
Elspeth: Have you been talking to Thorfinn, as we’d like to put it on the webite.
Mirriam: Yes. It will be on Trello, which has a website widget.
Eowynn:
Ysabel: There is planning to have a baronial encampment at GNE, but I’ve only seen it on Facebook.
Fiore: It is happening, we will be camping with whiteshield. Katla will post it to the list shortly.
Justin: The first elevation to the order of the mark will occur at Beast of the East this weekend.
Also, there is an online craftnite brewing in the discord.
