A brief description of your item and creation process

These three pieces are modern gouache and shell gold on pergamenta-  that is, they are painted with modern, non-toxic paints on a vegetable based parchment that slightly mimics the look and feel of actual vellum. The reasons for using modern materials when creating painted pieces such as these illuminations are that modern materials have removed the danger of toxicity that exist in period pigments, the materials are slightly easier to use, and are more readily available. For these pieces in particular, using modern materials was the plan from the start. For other of my pieces, more period materials are better suited. The goal of all my works is to create medieval illuminations and illustrations 1:1 to the original source. These three pieces are as close as I can approximate to the size in the Psalter.
