Join us for our November gathering of the Royal Foresters of Carolingia. This is a free informal backyard gathering hosted by the Noble Irys Tybote at their home in Westford. All are welcome, whether you are a forester or not, whether you are from Carolingia or Quintavia or beyond. Just come!
For this gathering, we’ll have a special Haunted theme and a wide variety of activities for all.
- 1st annual Haunted Foresters Egg Hunt: Feel free to arrive in “spooky” themed garb. Children must find all the haunted pumpkins/eggs!
- Fire skills – a fire pit is on site to practice forestry skills such as starting fires, tending, and cooking.
- Potluck – practice fireside cooking in the fire pit, or bring something to share. Also bring your feast gear (sturdy plate, bowl, cup, utensils) to partake of the delicious spread.
- Carding Angora and Wool – A Workshop by Noble Irys Tybote. Spinning and working with pure angora fiber can be a challenge, and the results are often too warm to be practical. Learn how to blend the two fibers for your next project.
- Group Natural Dye Station – colors TBA
- Foraging Hike – Feel free to hike in the surrounding Cider Mill Conservation woods and check out the old mill grinding stone. Water from this well is still in use by locals today. Bring back samples to ID at the camp; photos count due to Leave No Trace!
- Forester’s Identification Station – Bring samples (or photos) of various items to educate the group on identifying elements in nature around them.
- Makers Circle – bring your current project, show & tell, and work merrily.
- Foresters Court – For any applicants to the East Kingdom Foresters Guild who have passed their 90-day probationary period, we’ll hold a short court where you can swear the Forester’s Oath.
