A brief description of your item and creation process

Sottana circa 1589 for a Baronial Investiture

The Sottana was a staple of Florentine fashion in the 16th century.  It was probably the female-presenting garment with the most impact and evolution from 1520 – 1600 and features prominently in the guardaroba records of the Medici household.  This one was designed as an undergarment that may make an occasional solo appearance as part of my investiture gown.  It was also designed to be worn with stays and a hip roll.  This is the only item of my investiture I have sewn myself.
